IIn today’s business economy, you are either valuable or replaceable in the eyes of your employer. If you’re valuable, that simply means you can make money for your company. You are like King Midas, everything you’re involved in turns to gold. You’re always on the ball, always on the bleeding edge and you’ve got it. It is not easy to keep your skill set fresh like the morning dew. It takes considerable work. After all, it is work.
You can sell hotdogs and root beer from a cart on the corner of 51st and Lexington Avenue. It’s just the best darn hotdog and root beer this side of Midtown Manhattan. And you got it. Your customers just love throwing their money into your pockets.
In contrast, if you are a sour old puss that could careless about your job, no one will care for your job either. Guess what, kiddo? You’ re unemployable. You will be replaced… and forgotten.
It’s up to you how to make it work for you. Or you can live life standing in line from time to time waiting for your personal block of tasty government cheese.
Take a long and good look at this picture. The ball's in your court.
