A Slightly Humorous Recap of Last Week's Top Stories

Just to remind everyone:

English is not the official language of the United States. The English language is the de facto language of America, meaning that it has not been legally or officially recognized. Not until someone decides to create the American language, we won't have a language that is American.

Therefore, I feel any person that wants to sing the Star Spangled Banner can sing it in whatever language they feel like, be it English, Spanish, French, Chinese, or Hebrew. Take your pick. We have the right to sing our anthem and understand what it says about America, even if we have to translate it to another language. Let's not forget, our nation and its people are a melting pot, meaning all cultures are accepted by the Constitution and Lady Liberty.

Heck, I'd be happy with a President that could SPEAK the English language! Mind you, English is his native tongue. I suspect, however, that GW probably doesn't even know all the words to the National Anthem. But what do I know? I'm not the Decider!

It's a good thing that Feliz Navidad wasn't published in 2006. The extreme right would have hung Jose Feliciano as a traitor to the US and Santa Claus.

To any one of my readers who is handy with tools, see if you can invent an engine that runs on hate? If you can figure that out, you'll solve America's gas crisis and become a millionaire overnight. You see, hate seems to be our greatest renewable energy resource these days.

Lastly, here's another factoid. The Star Spangled Banner was put to the tune of an old British drinking song.

Of course, Conservatives have never complained about that.

Can you imagine why?

Racist Online and PC Games

Aryan group The Insurgent and other racist organizations have published on the Internet (and selling) games that promotes racial hatred and the cold blooded MURDER of men, women and children not White.

Citing the First Amendment, the Insurgent webmaster(s) give the following warning to web surfers who happen upon the site: The material supplied is NOT an instruction or a directive to use against anyone. However, if one does take the information provided and acts violently upon it, it is their responsibility and solely theirs.

Please spare me the bull.

Another hate promoting game is called Ethnic Cleansing which sells for $15 and is played on a user's PC. I gather from the game's description, a white soldier is on a mission to hunt down Latinos and Blacks and gets extra points for killing Jews.

The web site Water Cooler Games reviews Border Patrol, in which Mexicans (including pregnant women called breeders) are shot while attempting to cross the US-Mexican border.

It's time to close these sites down, mi gente. Make your calls.

Unjustly Accused of Being a Traitor

Although I’m not a liberal, I take exception with e-mails I have received from so called patriots. For the record, I am a moderate.

Besides being peppered with insulting labels, there were direct accusations that I find totally unacceptable: That those of us Americans who are against the war in Iraq hate America and love America’s enemies.

The e-mail authors apparently supporters of the extreme right wing, equate America with our government in general and the Bush administration in particular. They also believe that to be a Christian one needs to blindly support the Republican Party and its agenda. Anyone else who doesn’t is a heathen and is going straight to hell.

Ergo, anyone who criticizes or disagrees with our leaders’ decisions hates his country and God, according to the rhetoric.

Nothing could be further from the truth. I would much rather lose my sight than betray my beloved America.

In reality, America is much more than elected and appointed officials in Washington DC and the policies they impose. America consists of our beautiful land, our people, our values and our laws, none of which I hate or blame for all our problems. America is also about struggle, mercy and compassion.

The fact is that in the United States, there is a great chasm between our governmental leaders and their constituents. If anger or blame is to be directed anywhere, it should be towards a system where Congressional approval ratings are 30 percent while Congressional re-election rates are 98 percent; where a “unitary executive” can claim the right to direct attacks on other countries at will, whether the motive is the possibility of future threat, securing access to energy reserves or diverting attention away from embarrassing personal affairs; and where the constitutional mandate to “provide for the common defense” has taken the form of a standing army occupying permanent bases in the countries of enemies defeated generations ago.

Is it getting too hot in the kitchen? In America, we have the right to speak freely within the law. America is not nazi Germany nor is it Sadaam’s Iraq, where its nationals lived in fear of retribution if they spoke out against the government. Haven’t we’ve learned that lesson yet?

I do not hate America. I believe in the people of this country and the ideals contained in the Constitution. I believe in democracy and if necessary, die for my beloved country. But I am not afraid to voice my perspective on the obvious.

A Grim Perspective: The Gas Crisis

Everyday, we hear numerous reasons why gas prices are steadily rising. But what do we really know? Who's right and who's wrong? Is there a solution to the problem? Will we ever see gas come down to "normal" prices?

Here's an interesting article that puts the current trend into perspective and gives answers that perhaps we are not ready to hear.

It seems that it's really out of our hands.

Just Another Interpretation of a Glorious Song

What is the big deal? Jimi Hendrix covered it and received world acclaim. My favorite band in the whole wide world, KISS, played it in their concerts. There were no earthshaking protests about their version.

Now a Spanish version of The Star Spangled Banner is receiving a deluge of criticism around the US. Many are saying that our national anthem should be sung in English only.

Folks, it's only another of many interpretations. No one is advocating that the Spanish version should replace the original. It should be viewed as an addition to rather than a taking away from our great history. Who said American patriotism is English only?

America has been and always will be a melting pot of cultures and languages. In the 21st century, we find ourselves living in a global society and economy where many languages are spoken. Times are changing and there's nothing anyone can do to stop it. We can speak many languages and still be patriotic Americans.

Listen to the Spanish version of the Star Spangled Banner here.

May 1, 2006 - Nationwide Latino Boycott

Boycotting US goods and industry on May 1st, 2006 by Latinos is gaining ground throughout the United States, Mexico and even in Central America.

Meatpacking companies in the Mid-West will be closing. US Lobbyists in Mexico are up in arms.

The point is real simple and the uproar is evidence of this: Latinos are a huge financial block that partly supports the American economy. For decades, American companies have taken advantage of the illegal immigrants' sweat and back breaking labor to cut costs and make a profit. Suddenly, illegals are made political scapegoats and criminalized just to garner Conservative votes. This is absolutely not right.

The only way that the Latino voice can lawfully and peacefully be heard is to hit US Industry where it hurts; deep in the shareholders' pockets.

We will be heard. Enough is enough.

Arabs Set to Take Over US Plants with Bush Blessing

Can any American with a sensible mind feel wholeheartedly secure about the sale of US plants that manufactures US military parts to the United Arab Emirates? Mind you this is the same Arab country that laundered money for the September 11th WTC terrorists.

Seems like the most incompetent White House Administration ever in the history of America is trying to sell us out once again.

Or could this be an exchange of favors so that the US can have a secure military staging point in case of war with Iran?

Speaking in Tongues: Bush and Big Oil

President Bush comes across as a concerned father when he makes speeches about putting the brakes on big oil and skyrocketing gas prices. However, what he isn't telling America is that he is not the "decider" in this case. He can shake the cage all he wants but he's only getting a bored yawn from the animal inside.

He is failing to tell us is that it is mostly up to Congress to move against price gouging. However, Congress won't do a thing to stop it. Why? Big Oil has most of Congress in its pocket.

What President Bush needs to tell American voters is to flood their state's Senators and Representatives with phone calls and e-mail and demand swift action. Bush won't do that because he fears Congress will turn on him, possibly starting impeachment procedures.

Bush is force feeding us yet another dish of raw liver. The gov't isn't going to do anything that will exceedingly relieve the financial pressure at the pumps.

So, America, it's up to us. I' ll tell you what our Commander-In-Chief will not.

I don't think Congress takes America seriously. They believe we're full of hot air. Maybe we should show them through lawful means that we're done being pushovers? Call your Congressmen. Tell them in no uncertain terms that you're fed up. Put them on notice that if they will not take action against Big Oil now, YOU WILL VOTE THEM OUT.

Why should we allow them to continue to get a nice paycheck when they do not worry about ours?

Step up, America or shut up.

Tony Snow?? Oh, This is Rich!

The big joke in the news these past few days is that President Bush picked Tony Snow, formally of Fox News, to replace Scott McClellan.

It took me a few days to stop laughing. This definitely goes under the "Opps! I did it again!" category.

This is what Mr. Snow had to say about President Bush in the past:
  • Bush has lost control of the federal budget and cannot resist the temptation to stop raiding the public fisc. [3/17/06]

  • George W. Bush and his colleagues have become not merely the custodians of the largest government in the history of humankind, but also exponents of its vigorous expansion. [3/17/06]

  • President Bush distilled the essence of his presidency in this year's State of the Union Address: brilliant foreign policy and listless domestic policy.[2/3/06]

  • George Bush has become something of an embarrassment.[11/11/05]

  • Bush has a habit of singing from the Political Correctness hymnal.[10/7/05]

  • No president has looked this impotent this long when it comes to defending presidential powers and prerogatives. [9/30/05]

  • Bush has given the impression that [he] is more eager to please than lead, and that political opponents can get their way if they simply dig in their heels and behave like petulant trust-fund brats, demanding money and favor - now! [9/30/05]

  • When it comes to federal spending, George W. Bush is the boy who can't say no. In each of his three years at the helm, the president has warned Congress to restrain its spending appetites, but so far nobody has pushed away from the table mainly because the president doesn't seem to mean what he says. [The Detroit News, 12/28/03]

  • The president doesn't seem to give a rip about spending restraint.[The Detroit News, 12/28/03]

  • Bush, for all his personal appeal, ultimately bolstered his detractors' claims that he didn't have the drive and work ethic to succeed. [11/16/00]

  • Little in the character of demeanor of Al Gore or George Bush makes us say to ourselves: Now, this man is truly special! Little in our present peace and prosperity impels us to say: Give us a great man! [8/25/00]

  • George W. Bush, meanwhile, talks of a pillowy America, full of niceness and goodwill. Bush has inherited his mother's attractive feistiness, but he also got his father's syntax. At one point last week, he stunned a friendly audience by barking out absurd and inappropriate words, like a soul tortured with Tourette. [8/25/00]

  • He recently tried to dazzle reporters by discussing the vagaries of Congressional Budget Office economic forecasts, but his recitation of numbers proved so bewildering that not even his aides could produce a comprehensible translation. The English Language has become a minefield for the man, whose malaprops make him the political heir not of Ronald Reagan, but Norm Crosby.[8/25/00]
My question is will Snow be true to himself or become just another media hypocrite now that he's working for the Bush Administration? I believe we will soon find out. Stay tuned.

"I Tried Diplomacy", Says Bush

Bush was bent on invading Iraq and used any cherry picked intelligence he could dig up to justify his pre-ordained goal of democratic nation building. It's already been proven via documents that have come to light recently.

Who is he trying to kid?

I particularly remember Bush announcing that he would not invade Iraq if Saddam allowed unrestricted access to the UN inspection teams. When unrestricted access was granted, Bush changed his ultimatum. He then demanded that Saddam leave Iraq immediately or America would invade. This was before the UN inspection team had time to culminate their work.

Do you call this "diplomacy to the max"?

What he should have said was, "I tried diplomacy, but I didn't inhale."

President Bush Meets His Match in Sir Mick

Life must really suck when even Rolling Stones' frontman, Mick Jagger don't like you. It looked like a case of "Can't Get No Satisfaction" when Mick refused to give up his rented suite to President Bush.

I bet 2/3 of Americans would have told GW the same thing.

California Joins Illinois: Impeach Bush and Cheney

California Assemblyman Paul Koretz, has submitted official documents, demanding the start of impeachment procedures of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney.

I always said Dan Quayle made a better President...

POLL: One Third of Americans Despise America!

According to a new poll CNN released yesterday, one third of Americans polled give President Bush's two thumbs up on the way he is handling his Presidential duties.

Why??? Do they hate America that much???

Disturbing Rumors About Immigration Raids

According to a multitude of Latino callers to New York City's Spanish language radio station, La Mega 97.9 FM, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement(formally known as INS) raids are reaching NYC boroughs and New Jersey towns, such as Passaic, Clifton and Patterson. According to the callers, these raids include various ICE officers, backed by local police, shaking down Latino citizens passing by on the streets.

Allow me to make this clear. These are rumors not yet confirmed by the main stream media.

However, in my opinion, I would not doubt that the abovementioned is true. It would be the expected reaction of our government trying to squash the protests for Immigration Rights like they tried to do during the 1960's Civil Rights Movement. I would not be surprised to see that piece of history repeating itself in America soon.

What I suggest is that we make good use of camera cell phones, digital cameras, video recorders and the Internet. If this is happening, we need to get the word out. We should not have to endure jack-booted Gestapo tactics on the streets of the United States ever.

ESPN Presents Domino World Championship

There's nothing like screaming, ¡Chuchazo! like a possessed santero while slamming the double ought on the table.

Texas Hold 'Em is a dainty ladies' game when compared to El Dominó.

A Call to Action for Latinos Everywhere!

Hermanos, let's not forget our brethren in the Mid-West, where the Latino population is underrepresented and unheard. For many there, Latino unity is new and they do not know how to proceed in claiming their civil rights.

If you know how to help or someone that can help, step up!

¡Sí, se puede!

Latino Politicians Receive Death Threats!

California Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and other Latino politicians receive death threats after they appear at the LA immigration protest last March.

These ignorant hating racists believe "The only good Mexican is a dead Mexican".

If only they'd have the cojones to say it in public.

Cowards!

US Military Losing Hispanic Favor

It seems that the Pentagon views Latinos in the military good for only one thing, cannon fodder for an unpopular war. Latino soldiers are beginning to see the current WH Administration for what it really is. And they are getting fed up.

Perception and the Media

As I was walking around town this morning (Yes, I do walk...) I observed itty bitty people draped in itty bitty clothes and looking very confident in their sickly looks. I had to battle an almost overwhelming urge to feed these human walking sticks.

Later in my walk, I spotted a free newspaper stand. On the cover of the paper inside, was an itty bitty woman who's bones were draped by an itty bitty sparkly bikini. I suppose that's the definition of sexy nowadays?

Did it make me salivate? Did it flood my mind with sexual fantasies? Hardly. Actually, the whole mental experience disturbed me.

You see, the media grinds into our minds that this is the apex of health and beauty:

On the other hand, this poor soul is considered unhealthy and ugly:

I fail to see the difference.

Does Your Doctor Know What He's Doing?

My recent stay in a northern New Jersey hospital felt more like fodder for "Hostel 2" than a haven of healing. I've seen more competency in a scripted television doctor series where every hospital caregiver's goal is saving lives, and not taking it.

After much research and hard knocks, I've learned to ask many questions and never ever trust anyone with my body. I have to be thoroughly convinced the people that call themselves healthcare professionals know what they are doing.

You should do the same. Here's why.

"We Have No Help To Learn English", Say Immigrants

One one hand we have anti-immigrant politicians and citizens protesting immigrants' lack of English language skills as one reason why we should could close the borders. On the other, the same government officials provide almost non-existent opportunities for legal immigrants to learn the English language and become more productive in the American society.

It seems to me this is yet another example of underhanded and calculated prejudice against Latinos.

When Bush is in Trouble, He Can Always Count on Osama

It just boggles the mind how bin Laden always shows up spewing terrorist drivel when Curious George finds himself in trouble? Talk about timing! Just right before the elections, when GW and the GOP's numbers are spiraling into the void and whala!

Heeeeeeeeeeeere's Osama!

Wow!

Bush the Ecologist

Now that we’ve stopped laughing and caught our collective breath, let’s look at what President Bush, the sage of environmental solutions, has to say about “new fuel resources”.

A word of advice: don’t drink coffee while reading this article. It may be hazardous to the cleanliness of your monitor.

Minutemen Tell Bush "You Better or We Will!"

The Minuteman Project is trying to force President Bush's hand into building a fence in Arizona OR they will do it themselves. Mind you, a border building project strikes a sour note among American taxpayers in general. The Minuteman Project is demanding the Feds to foot the bill to what amounts to the "Great Wall of America".

Do the Minutemen really think this is a good idea? I suppose no one said they were the brightest crayons in the box.

The Minutemen should be arrested for their own safety and that of others. No one as dangerously stupid as they are should be allowed to roam free and armed at that. Once they kill someone (probably someone who's a citizen of the US), the President will be forced to put a stop to their foolishness.

Incidently, didn't President Bush say yesterday that he makes all the decisions?

Bush the Messiah?!

It may be worse than we think. If so, we're royally ska-rooood!

Lord George the Messiah

Jobless Claims Drop! Let's... Celebrate?

The bean counters at the Labor Department claim that those seeking unemployment benefits dropped drastically during the past week. Cause to celebrate, right? The job market is on an upswing!

I don't think so.

Before you pop the cork on that champagne bottle, ask yourself these questions:

Does that mean that people simply ran out of unemployment benefits? Did they find jobs? If so, is the pay equal or more than what people are used to making? Or did they find jobs at the local 7-11, BK or Mickey D's? If they didn't find jobs, are these families preparing to become homeless?

You see, staticians can make the numbers mean whatever they want them to mean. Especially when the White House is busy shaking every tree it can find.

Smoke and mirrors, baby. And that is what it's all about.

Mexico Brutally Abusive Towards Migrants

Although Mexican officials denounce the United States for criminalizing their citizens, Mexican soldiers and police conduct their own witch hunts. These supposed bastions of justice rob, rape, torture and jail Central American migrants found without proper papers.

The level of brutality Central American migrants face in Mexico was apparent Monday, when police conducting a raid for undocumented migrants near a rail yard outside Mexico City shot to death a local man, apparently because his dark skin and work clothes made officers think he was a migrant.

Racist Vigilante Group Grows to 200,000 Members

The Minuteman Project, who has been tied to Neo-Nazis, Ku Klux Klan and other grassroots hate groups, gave the go-ahead for the creation of state chapters nationwide. States that are far away from the US-Mexican border are recruiting members to support this obvious racist movement against Latinos.

A little over a year ago, President Bush called the Minuteman Project "vigilantes", a group who takes or advocates the taking of law enforcement into their own hands. If he feels so strongly against this group, why hasn't he put a stop to them?

The government is so worried about terrorism abroad (and rightly so), yet it seems that they have not done a thing about the terrorist group here at home, called The Minuteman Project.

It's high time the Federal government does the job it is richly paid to do. The Minuteman Project is not above the law, sirs.

Do your jobs.

Is Bush Serious? Nuking Iran an Option?

Since posting about this issue on 04/08/06, the possiblity of nuclear war seems one step closer to becoming reality.

Journalist Edmund Blair reported that President Bush refused on Tuesday to rule out nuclear strikes against Iran if diplomacy fails to curb the Islamic Republic's atomic ambitions.

What is really frightening is that when we think about how overtaxed US soldiers are in Iraq and Afghanistan; our military simply does not have the numbers necessary to launch a major ground campaign against Iran.

Unless the White House reinstates the draft, immediately conscripting ten to fifteen thousand more Americans, training and deploying them within the next several months the only way to attack Iran successfully would either be a sustained air campaign, bringing about massive civilian death tolls in Iran, or using tactical nuclear weapons.

Is this what we want? It's time to stop chatting online, reading People magazine and get off your saddles. Contact your Representatives and Senators and voice your concerns about the possibility of nuclear war looming on the American horizon.

Veteran Rocker Calls for Impeachment

Veteran rocker, Neil Young recorded a call for President Bush's impeachment on his new CD, Living with War. The protest song is aptly titled "Let's Impeach the President"

However, not many conservatives are very happy with Mr. Young's latest recording.

I wonder why?

Minorities Not Counted in Bush's Educational Program

With the Federal government's blessing, public schools across the US are not counting at least two million minority test scores in President Bush's No Child Left Behind Act.

Apparently, some educators and the Feds feel minorities are too small of a group or just too plain dumb to be counted.

What do you have to say, Latino?

How Much Does a Pound of Flesh Cost?

You might be surprised how much your Mid-Western state isn't your friend. Do you love the rolling hills and the quiet of country life? It may be costing you more in state and local taxes than you think.

Uncle Sam isn't the only money grubbing parasite attached to your back pocket.

Quick Tax Refunds Cost Poor Families Hundreds

Opting for convenient, cash-in-hand rapid refunds cost low income families up to 15% of their total Federal tax refund. This translates to huge profits for well known national tax preparing firms. However, will looming monster bills, most poor families can't afford to wait.

Keep this in mind, mi gente, the price of convenience is always high.

Corporate America Makes Big $$$ Off Your Charity!

Many people find donating old clothes and goods to charities a fine method of clearing out their cupboards and making space in their closets. Charities often make use of clothing collection bins to gather donations from people's homes. However, some of these charity collections bins are bogus.

Are you helping a collection company make FREE money off of your goodwill? There are collection companies that pose as charities, collecting clothes from various drop off bins through out the US. These bins give the misleading impression that the items are being collected for charitable purposes. In reality, the collections seem to be organized by commercial operators who sell the donated items for profit.

Folks, when you help your neighbor in need, do it wisely. Make sure you're giving to NON-PROFIT organizations like Goodwill and The Salvation Army. Non-profits will give you a receipt for tax purposes when you take your donations to their collection sites. All it takes is a short phone call and a few minutes of your time on the week-end. This way you've made sure that you're helping those in need and not contributing to corporate greed.

On the Horizon: A Pain in the Gas... Ouch!

Today, gas prices are higher than they were a few weeks ago. Forcasters predict prices will be eleven percent higher than they were a year ago.

You'd think oil companies would kiss us first, eh?

The Greatest Trick the Devil Ever Played...

They say there’s nothing new under the sun. Everything that is being done has been done time and time again. It is the same play with different actors. All this holds true for the Republicans.

Here’s the truth: the Republican ship is rife with holes and it’s sinking fast. They lie about the current recession, about Iraq and the job market. Most of us are seeing the blatant contrast between the rancid bologna the politicos are trying to force down our collective throats and the stark reality we see before us.

The recession continues. Jobs are not being created. Just because the Unemployment claims are falling, it doesn’t mean that people are finding decent paying jobs. How could they? More and more companies are going overseas seeking cheap labor. Not everyone’s working for Wal-Mart, BK or Mickey D’s. Thousands are surviving by the grace of God and handouts from the Salvation Army or local food pantries.

John and Jane Q. Public are insanely furious. Their once trusted politicians aren’t doing anything to stem the flow. The American dream is slowly bleeding to death.

However, there’s a larger and more frightening picture.

What about our troops in Iraq? We want the war to end and our families back home NOW. But to what will they be coming home? What is America going to do with the influx of troops seeking jobs? There are so very little to be found. What is a tank driver going to do for a living? I don’t think there’s a huge call for tank drivers in the civilian life.

So the troops return to unemployment and welfare. What happens when those public services run out?

How is that going to affect our failing economy? The economy is going to bottom out. Welcome to the new depression.

Hold on! Don’t fill my mailbox with scathing e-mails. I am not advocating that our troops should stay in Iraq. Let’s zoom out the picture just one more time.

The reality is that our troops aren’t coming home... yet. There’s one more play in the White House game book. That’s Iran. If the troops return home, and the White House decides to go into Iran, it would cost more to re-deploy an already over extended and exhausted Army from the US. It would cost less, however, if we deploy troops from, let’s say, Iraq. Would it not? I mean, they are already there, aren’t they? Didn’t GW say recently that the “troops will be in Iraq for years?” Did you ever wonder why?

Now, let me ask you something. Wouldn’t another war just push the American people over the edge? Oh yeah. You better believe it.

The Republicans know this. They want to stay in power. It’s election time. How many Conservative senators, representatives, governors, and local politicians do you think will be around the day after the elections?

So, what ace do the Republicans have up their sleeves? What will change the people’s focus? Why… illegal immigration, of course.

Republicans were not counting on the Latino outrage and show of unity. Historically, Latinos have been quiet and in the shadows. We work hard, raise our families and mind our own business. Immigrants are so happy just to be able to work; they don’t have time to bother with anything else. Foolishly, Reps poked the sleeping bear in the eye. Now Papa Bear is furious.

Seems like they can’t do anything right, huh?

The criminalization of illegal immigrants is just a smokescreen made to shift the focus from the real issues.

And America is being played like a big ole violin.

Christian Politics: The American Freak Show

Just a few days after the whole immigration debate lit up the political landscape across America, I received a strange e-mail from a well-known Christian organization. It proceeded to describe in detail the utter horrors of allowing illegal immigrants into our country. The writer told me that it was my Christian duty to vote for anti-immigrant laws and to support anti-immigrant politicians.

Blink, blink… excuse me?

Hold on there, pokey. Wasn’t it Jesus that said that it was our Christian duty to “love others as we love ourselves”? If my memory serves me correctly, that’s the second greatest commandment. Furthermore, I can’t find anywhere written in the Bible where Jesus Christ participated in local, state or national politics or told anyone to indulge in politics. In fact, not once, during His preaching, did He ever say to His listeners, “Vote for…” or “Endorse platform…”

The question that begs to be asked is, “Why are “Christian” ministers preaching politics from their pulpits?” Somehow, through some awful twisted logic, being a Christian has become synonymous with Bible-bashing and endorsing the Republican Party! Failure to do so gets a person branded as a “bad Christian”.

You know what? As my Southern friend would say, “That’s a load of hogwash.” I’ll take my chances with God and love all of my neighbors, white, black, brown, and all colors in between, gays, straight, lesbians, and all those that civilized society brands as “freaks”. I don’t think the God I know would fault me for being compassionate, giving and caring.

Oddly, I really believe in my heart of hearts that God would not approve of the boatload of pooty that’s being passed as “Christian Conservatism”.

I’ll accept my ex-communication now, please. Thank you.

Hypocrisy… Made in America.

Settling in tonight to watch the evening news, I noticed a striking difference between the English and Spanish speaking reporters at the immigrant rally across the US. As I changed the channels, I noticed that while Fox News and others reporters were interviewing immigrants, they peppered every other question with words like illegal and undocumented. It was almost as if these reporters had taken it upon themselves to out every illegal immigrant they could find at the rallies.

In contrast, Spanish-speaking reporters were reporting the events as it happened, without any agenda whatsoever. No sarcasm, no innuendo. Just plain ole humdrum reporting.

I then wondered what was the big deal? Yes, illegal is illegal. I've made no bones about it in my previous posts. However, it seems downright hypocritical that now, at this pivotal point in Republican politics, immigrants have become the focus of a nation-wide Conservative sponsored witch hunt.

Immigrants obviously have been in America for years. Almost no one in Washington had said a peep about illegal immigration. In fact, no one said anything when illegal immigrants bought tons of merchandise from stores, paying state and local taxes on said purchases. Not one merchant bothered to utter a harsh word against them when they bought cars, lottery tickets, medicine, clothes and electronics with the money they illegally made.

Not one American citizen said anything when they bought KFC or Tyson chicken processed in slaughterhouses by illegals. No one was up in arms when they bought hamburgers cooked by undocumented workers. No one said anything when they purchased fruits, coffee beans and vegetables picked by these people that are now being criminalized for working the very jobs American citizens refuse to do.

Now conservative America wants to act sanctimonious and denounce the illegal immigrants as apostates of decent society.

What's next, burning at the stake?

The Newest Racial Weapon: The Fear of the Brown Man!

I was listening to a conservative talk show*** this morning. The host and his callers all were conversing about their fear of illegal immigrants and of Muslim terrorists.

The fear compiled into a theory I've never heard. This theory states that Arab Muslim terrorists are learning Spanish, taking Mexican aliases, and getting into America under the guise of illegal immigrants looking for work. If true, the host stated, it gives the government even greater reason to close the borders and deport illegal immigrants.

Hmmm...

I lived in NE Ohio when 9/11 took place. Suddenly, my neighbors were looking at me differently. Their stares were not very neighborly to say the least. It was a very dangerous time for me. So much so, I had to hang a Puerto Rican flag from the rear view mirror of my Jeep just to let them know I was Latino and not an Arab. Obviously, Arabs, Muslim or not, were not very popular in the Mid-West. In fact, I had to explain to a few that Puerto Rico is an island in the Caribbean, a territory of the US since the 1898 and a Commonwealth since 1952. Not one of them had a clue that Puerto Rico existed!

An intelligent person would deduce that in view of the hatred that many conservative talk-radio shows, columnists and politicians are whipping up against Latinos, that we would be the last group that any terrorist in the world would want to pretend to be. Wouldn't you agree?

The conservative fear of Arab Muslims trying to pass themselves off as Latinos is just part of their racist fantasy of ridding the country of dark-skinned people. This way, conservatives figure they can get rid of two groups of non-whites at the same time.

Let's have some fun at their expense. Let's feed their paranoia. We can tell them that there are far more Muslims in Asia than there are in the Middle East, and that a Chinese, Filipino, Malaysian or Indonesian Muslim doesn't look any different than a Chinese, Filipino, Malaysian or Indonesian non-Muslim. It'll be way easier for them to blend in here than it will be for a person from Beirut to try to pass himself off as someone from Tijuana!

Let 'em chew on that for a while. Heh.

Or we can really start the ball rolling by looking at white people. You know, a lot of white skinned people look Irish and may very well be IRA terrorists disguised as Anglo-Americans. We can even toss Bosnian immigrants into the mix. After all, they could be Muslim terrorists from Bosnia, right?

Does it sound extremely far-fetched? Sadly, not really.

*** I won’t name the show. I don’t want to get sued.

Is the White House Planning to Go Nuclear on Iran?

The New Yorker magazine reports that the US is planning to test bunker-busting type nuclear weapons in the Nevada desert for a possible bombing campaign against Iran.

Apparently no one except key Bush Administration officials knew about these plans. It was all kept in complete secrecy from the public.

Ah ha! The plot thickens!

Time to take our collective heads out of... er... the sand, folks.

Detractor Derailed from Dastardly Deed! (Yes, it's cheesy...)

It seems that I have offended delicate constitutions with my unconventional acumen. In other words, I have stepped on a few toes... again.

I am quite honored that my perception of current events and life in general has strongly stirred the emotions of some readers to take action against this blog.

To these persons, please take careful note of the following:

There are countries like Cuba and Columbia, where outspoken and opinionated individuals, like myself, who speak against the status quo, can suddenly find themselves staring down the rifle barrels of a firing squad.

HOWEVER, this here country is A-M-E-R-I-C-A, land of milk and honey and where the streets are paved in gold. At least she is the vision of heaven to those same people that have no voice, no vote and live in extreme poverty and fear. America is an attainable heaven on Earth to those who risk their very lives to come here.

We possess a precious and inspiring document called the Constitution of the United States of America and within, the Bill of Rights, which guarantees to her citizens, like my detractors, and myself the FREEDOM OF SPEECH. To which, I can say whatever the hell I want to say and write whatever me da la gana (the hell I want) to write as long as it is law-abiding and responsible.

Thank you, sir or madam, for trying to shut down this blog. It only proves that what I do here is honorable, respectable and necessary.

It will continue. I am not going anywhere.

The Minuteman Project Secretly Courts Slimeball Hate Groups

Arizona has been getting plenty of media coverage as of late, particularly the Minuteman Project. This quiet and concerned group of older American "patriots" are covering a dark relationship between them, Neo-Nazi groups, armed vigilantes and perhaps even the KKK.

Where is the US Border Patrol in all this? Why is a group associated with extremists allowed to blatantly set up tent in an area that is supposed to be guarded by the Federal Government?

Apparently, someone is turning a blind eye.

Did Cheney Admit bin Laden not involved in 9/11?

In a telephone interview with Fox News pundit and conservative syndicated columnist Tony Snow, Vice President Dick Cheney seems to slip and admit that Osama bin Laden was not directly involved with 9/11.

Q I want to be clear because I've heard you say this, and I've heard the President say it, but I want you to say it for my listeners, which is that the White House has never argued that Saddam was directly involved in September 11th, correct?

THE VICE PRESIDENT: That's correct. We had one report early on from another intelligence service that suggested that the lead hijacker, Mohamed Atta, had met with Iraqi intelligence officials in Prague, Czechoslovakia. And that reporting waxed and waned where the degree of confidence in it, and so forth, has been pretty well knocked down now at this stage, that that meeting ever took place. So we've never made the case, or argued the case that somehow Osama bin Laden [sic] was directly involved in 9/11. (emphasis mine - JR) That evidence has never been forthcoming. But there -- that's a separate proposition from the question of whether or not there was some kind of a relationship between the Iraqi government, Iraqi intelligence services and the al Qaeda organization.
I cannot, for the life of me, understand why, with all the technological advances the United States possess, we cannot find one man? Let me get this right. We can find distant planets using a leviathan sized telescope orbiting the earth, read a license plate anywhere in the world using satellites, and get this, clone human organs! We can even track immigrants coming across the US-Mexican border using infrared imagery.

Yet we cannot find Osama.

Interesting, don't you agree?

So if bin Laden wasn’t involved, why were we led to believe he was involved? Could this be why the US military have not found him yet? Could it be that our government was never looking for bin Laden in the first place?

Perhaps. Maybe. What do you think?

Radical Thinking for Success!

I have something to tell you that will radically change your world for the better, if you let it. Are you ready?

This article is going to be long in the tooth. But I believe you will gain so much from it, I have to write it without short cuts. Thanks for bearing with me.

To be successful in anything you do, you are going to have to change the way you think. If you think negatively about yourself and your abilities, you’ll never, ever be successful in anything you do. If you think you can’t, you won’t. However, if you think that you are going to do successfully, baby, I am here to tell you, you will be successful in anything you do.

Are you seeing a pattern here?

The way you think will determine the outcome of your life. Your thoughts determine if you are a failure or a success.

If you think good thoughts about yourself and your abilities, talents and gifts, your actions follow. The same reasoning is true if you think bad thoughts about yourself, your abilities, talents and gifts, then your actions will follow its natural course. The reason why successful people succeed is because they precede their success with successful thoughts about themselves. They are the “can-do” people. Despite the obstacles, despite the circumstances, despite what other people tell them to the contrary, they come up and out smelling like sweet roses every time. The only thing special about these successful people is the way they think about themselves, which is always good. They may be janitors but they are the best darn janitors their company has and it shows in their actions. These people won’t stay janitors for long because they are always thinking upward mobility. They are thinking about climbing the ladder up and not going down. Nothing stands in their way towards success. Why? They believe in themselves. They have confidence in themselves. They envision their success and they go out and take what is rightfully theirs. I am here to tell you, it’s true and it works!

I admire immigrants. I do. To me, they are the epitome of success. I am not kidding. So pick up your jaw and read on.

Imagine if you will, living in Mexico, in horrible and vile conditions, watching your family struggle with hunger, illness and hopelessness. Everything around you screams volumes of despair. Yet, you have vision. You know that to the north, there is a land of milk and honey. You know that if they just make it over the border, you can start a new life filled with hope and new opportunity. So you start their journey. Yes, you know that your long and arduous trek will be treacherous, maybe even deadly. But you don’t stop. You have a dream and you are willing to risk it all to achieve it. And to America you go, despite the people who don’t want you there, despite the border or the Rio Grande. Despite the law that calls you a criminal, you will stop at nothing to give your family and yourself a prosperous future.

I was watching the news on TV this morning. They were reporting on yesterday’s immigration protest march in New York City. The reporter stopped and interviewed a man from Uruguay. During the interview, he began to shed tears. He said, “I came to this country when I was five years old. My family had nothing. Now I am a lawyer.” Wow! What courage!

Mi gente, don’t conform to negative thinking. Don’t believe what they say about you. You’re not trash, thugs, criminals or low-lives. You are not the bottom of the barrel. ¡Tu no eres mierda! Be proud of your heritage! We are people who know struggle! We are warriors! We aren’t garbage. We descend from courageous ancestors who dared the impossible! Stand up! Stand tall! Stand proud! Your worth is beyond measure. I am writing to you mi gente because I care for you and I want you to know ¡coño!, that you have potential!

Here’s some more facts you have to know. You can’t put the cart before the horse. There are some things that only work one way and one way only.

A right action does not change wrong thinking. You can exercise but unless you believe you can and will lose weight, you will never lose weight. Eventually, your wrong thinking will crop up like crab grass and cause your right actions to cease. Then the vicious cycle will start up again. You get upset and discouraged and you start overeating again. It is like this with every other issue in your life as well. How many executives do you know that are miserable, crabby people? They have the job. They have the money and they are still unhappy. That’s an example of the product of wrong thinking.

Right, positive thoughts will change wrong actions. When you start washing your brain with good thoughts about yourself, it is inevitable that your actions will follow. There is no way that you can be positive about yourself and let’s say, commit suicide. You cannot wake up one morning, feeling and thinking good things about yourself and decide that you’re going to kill yourself. When you’re positive about yourself, no matter what situation you are in, no matter what station in life you find yourself right now, there is hope. And you can’t help but follow down that bright path.

Don’t listen to what anyone has to say about you. Right or wrong, people are going to talk about you. Your bright light reminds them of how terribly sour their lives are. Instead of taking your brilliant example to heart, they’ll try to bring you down to their pit of mud and despair. Refuse to listen. Better yet, avoid these people as much as possible. You cannot afford to be around these parasites.

Find and cultivate a network of people that will be a benefit to you. Hang out with people that edify and not destroy you, that add and not take away from you. You have no time for gossip or any of that other negative life hindering junk. Remember, successful people breed successful people.

And it starts with you.

Finally, be balanced with your positive thoughts. Don’t think you’re superior to anyone else. You will certainly sabotage your climb to success. No one likes a stuck up person. These kinds of people are annoying. Stuck up people never have the goods to back up their perceived superiority. That’s why they need to boost their ego on the account of everyone else. They have nothing to offer.

But you do. I know you do. I believe in you.

Now go forward and claim your awesome future, mi raza Latina!
