Breaking News: Counterterrorism Funding Cut to NYC, Washington D.C.!

Fox Five News in New York announced tonight that Homeland Security drastically cut Federal funding to New York City and Washington DC that is used to protect the two cities from future terrorist attacks.

The funding cuts amounts to a 40% decrease from last year's $207,000,000 allotted terrorist fighting budget.

Ironically, DHS awarded the State of Georgia a 40% increase to their overall budget.

Speculators say that Georgia's increase can be used to fund hurricane relief if a Katrina-like disaster occurs.

This will be updated as the story unfolds. Stay tuned.

UPDATE: Click here for further information.

Critics say that most states that received an increase in their budgets are "red" states held by the GOP such as Nebraska, Georgia and Kentucky. More details here.

Moreover, New York Daily News' journalist, Michael Daly wrote, "Whatever the motivation, the department has issued a bizarre document that cuts our funding by 40%, says there are no icons to protect and slams the Police Department that has taken the lead in the fight against terrorism. The top of the document might as well read Homeland Security to New York: Drop Dead."

Folks, this is just another glaring example of how low the Bush Administration and his GOP cronies are willing to go to secure conservative votes in the coming election: putting the lives of American citizens on the line for selfish purposes.

And if they are willing to this, what else are they capable of doing next?

Gov't Respects Privacy? I Don't Think So.

For as long as I can recall, I always believed that once someone lied, they would lie again eventually. Give the following some thought: If a person lies about something small, like an insignificant incident, it would stand to reason that the same person is capable of lying about larger things and/or events just as easily.

Where am I going with this? Recently it was revealed that the NSA has been spying on American citizens probably right after 9/11. It was kept a secret from the public. It had also been denied in the past when the question was asked. When revealed otherwise, the government and its spin doctors said it was done for the purposes of "national security". It seems that everything done by the government these days that siphons from our civil rights is done for the purpose of "national security".

They tried to reassure us that our right to privacy is intact and no law has been broken. Of course, they failed to mention that the law that hasn't been broken is the very same law that they created after 9/11 called the Patriot Act.

They said that our personal data, i.e., social security, passwords, bank accounts and such are still protected. They also failed to mention the database they created without the benefit of warrants and with the help of a few leading US corporations.

Keeping this in mind, let us take a virtual trip to the other side of the world. Let us get acquainted with what the US government is trying to do in the European Union?

But before we do that, read this one excerpt:

"It required European airlines to provide the US authorities with 34 pieces of information on each passenger including names, addresses and credit card information, within 15 minutes of a plane taking off. It was opposed by many European MPs as a breach of privacy laws."

And our government says, “Trust us.”

Excuse me while I stop laughing hysterically. It may be awhile.

"We Don't Care About Your Rights", Says Congress

When the FBI crashed the Capitol Hill offices of Representative William Jefferson, D-La., last week, Congress ferociously protested the raid saying the Constitutional separation of powers had been violated. This is despite the fact that Jefferson was caught with his hands deep in the bribe jar to the tune of $100,000.

Yet, when it was disclosed that the NSA was secretly collecting data on American citizens without the benefit of warrants, Congress barely said anything at all.

Can you read between the lines?

NYC Mayor Promotes American Worker DNA Database

Adding his two cents into the national immigration debate, Republican New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said he would like Congress to pass legislation creating a national database that contains the DNA or fingerprints of all legal US workers.

Bloomberg stated that social security cards can be forged using Photoshop and passed as the real thing. What he failed to mention is that the Federal government has a database of all social security numbers and can tell if one is false by a simple search.

NBC 4 reported today that plans were in the works for a NYC database containing the DNA of city workers, spearheaded by the Mayor.

New York Civil Liberties Union director, Donna Lieberman said the proposal "doesn't sound like the free society we think we're living in. It will inevitably be used not just by employers but by law enforcement, government agencies, schools and all over the private sector."

I concur. The last thing we need is yet another way to siphon off more of our civil rights under the disguise of "national security".

The Real Danger: Security Failure at Chemical Plants

New Jersey Works Environmental Council released yesterday a haunting report detailing potential catastrophes in the making. Several chemical facilities in the state could be prime terrorist targets due to their lack of security measures and personnel. The cost in human lives, if even one of these plants was subjected to a terrorist attack, would be in the millions.

Fox Five news and The Record reported that 110 plants use "extraordinarily hazardous" chemicals that, if exposed to the local wind currents, can be carried as across the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, Pa) critically hurting or killing millions.

Many plant directors said they have repeatedly tried to get funding from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to beef up their security departments. According to them, they have met with little or no response from the Federal agency in charge of keeping America safe from potential terrorist attacks.

With a little research on Google, The Latino Edge found that several states in the Union also face similar desperate security situations.

"Internal DHS documents also show that a new DHS web cam program is limited to only 17 facilities in seven states: CA, TX, IN, PA, NJ, IL, MI. This $4.2 million government funded project is indicative of the triage approach the DHS has taken to chemical plant security. These documents show that the new DHS universe of plants ignores many states where the EPA has identified over 100 facilities that put a million or more people at risk. These states include PA, OH, FL, WI, MN, WA, AZ, CO, NV, TN, MD."

This is extremely troubling on many fronts. Here we find ourselves combating a supposed national crisis which is pitching millions of US taxpayer dollars to mobilize against a people who never have been involved in any terrorist activity. Illegal immigrants have in fact contributed to our nation's economy. Most of their activities have been a plus for the US.

Yet our borders to the north, our East and West Coasts and now many chemical plants nationwide remain virtually open to terrorist attack. What about security at our nation's various nuclear plants and fuel repositories? Are they adequate?

These issues and not Latino immigrants should be the focus of our national leaders and the American people. These vulnerabilities can bring America indescribable disaster if left unchecked.

This article is not about politics, folks. It is about common sense and our need to get our national priorities straight. We need to stop acting like political sheep and finally tell our government get their act together. It is what we pay them to do, am I right?

Security Co. Push Spy Chip to Track Immigrants

High Tech security company Applied Digital and subsidiary VeriSign is lobbying Congress to include their radio-frequency identification (RFID) chips to be included as part of the Guest Worker Program.

Apparently, CEO Scott Silverman has been speaking to high ranking officials in Latin America as well.

...the company has gotten the buy-in from highly placed current and former government officials, including Columbian President Alvaro Uribe. He reportedly told Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA) that he would consider having microchips implanted into Colombian workers before they are permitted to enter the United States to work on a seasonal basis.

Silverman went on the Fox News show Fox and Friends First to hard sell the idea to the public. He went on to "argue that the U.S. government should buy tons of his implantable RFID chips and literally inject them into the arms of immigrants who are guest workers in the United States."

If this is adopted by our government, we American citizens are next.

With Liberty and Justice for... All?

Manuel Bartsch is a teenager who has graduated high school and looks forward to going to college in Ohio. The only thing impeding him from making his dream come true is that he is an illegal immigrant.

There are many like this fine young man here in America who have dreams of going to school or just working to earn a decent living. Like Bartsch, their only obstacle is that they too are illegal immigrants.

We've heard and read the news about GOP politicians and many American citizens trying to make these people outlaws, placing them in the same league as drug dealers, murderers and child abusers. We've seen vigilante groups assemble in various states to combat this "national crisis".

This is something I noticed. Republican senators in Ohio are trying to keep the young teenager from being deported back to Germany. These are same GOP senators that want to deport millions of hard working Latino illegal immigrants back to Mexico.

I also noticed there are no reports about groups from the Minuteman Project mobbing Bartsch home demanding his deportation. Generally speaking, Bartsch, has received the support of his neighbors.

Why is Bartsch getting preferential treatment from politicians and the general public?

Could it be because Bartsch is a white illegal immigrant?

Manuel Bartsch

Humanity Lost

I grew up during a transition of racial ideology in America. It was a time when our heroes were Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X and Luis Muñoz Marín who fought for civil rights of American minorities. It was a time of terrible battles fought in courts, in the streets and at the dinner table. While there was a war being fought in Vietnam, there was another moral war being fought at the home front. The question was whether a man of color or a woman in general had the right to be called equal with the rest of white America?

It really didn't affect me much. I am Latino and back then, at least in my immediate view, I wasn't mistreated. I can't remember hearing any of the derogatory labels that some used to describe a person of Latino heritage. All I knew was how to treat everyone like I would want to be treated. If they screwed it up, they lost my trust. But it was never a question of color; just behavior.

The battle raged on in the 70's with shows like All in the Family, The Jeffersons and my all time favorite, Good Times. All these shows dealt with racial issues in one form or another. Being a Puerto Rican child in NYC, I guess it was a fight between those two groups of people over there. However, those "in between the line" messages were being stored in my young mind. They secretly helped mold my character.

As I became a young man, I moved to Puerto Rico. There I was hit square in the face by prejudice. My own people denied me a job because I spoke English. It was weird and hurtful at the same time. I was one of those people over there and not one of the native islanders. Knowing I would never be allowed to work, I took a jet plane and landed in the South.

Some will argue that Florida isn't really considered the South like Georgia and Alabama. But prejudice is just the same anywhere we find it. It was in Florida where I had my first run in with racism and the Klan. It was the first time racial labels were directed my way. And it was the first time I saw hate in the eyes of people that didn't know me and wanted me dead anyway. Why? Simply because I was darker then they were. I don't feel ashamed to tell you that I cried in anger. How stupid can people be? Hating someone because of a natural pigment called melanin. That, to me, is like hating someone for having toenails or a liver. They didn't know me. They didn't care if I liked all kinds of music, was artistic or that I never stole a thing in my life. They didn't see me a fellow human being. They just saw me as a rabid animal that needed killing.

After eleven years in the South, I moved to the Mid-West. After a while, I began to notice racial prejudice again. None of it was directed at me, mind you. I was Hispanic. According to the racists, we worked hard, unlike those other lazy minorities.

Let me tell you what I saw. I witnessed poor folk with families working their fingers to the bones, in mills, in steel plants, on farms and in department stores. I saw people struggling and sweating to make sure there was food on their tables, and clothes on their backs. They worked hard to pay rent for a two-bedroom shanty that leaked when it rained and was bone cold in the winter. Yet instead of complaining, they thanked God because they had a roof over their heads one more day. Heck, they even thanked God for toilet paper. Listen, if you ever been without toilet paper and had to wipe with pieces of newspaper, you'd be thanking whatever deity you believe in when the real deal came around your way.

Yes, there were a few that were lazy. But they were people of any color who thought that government owed them a living. However, I couldn't see how racist could paint all minorities with broad strokes on account of a few. Sometimes, those broad strokes were deadly. Because of these broad strokes, I saw police practicing racial profiling and other things I rather not say.

I have traveled through many states in my life and I've seen plenty of injustice. I've seen people starving in the Appalachian Mountains. I have been through small towns where the only running water is the creek that passes though it. I've seen children running around dirty and without shoes. I've seen people who have worked 30 years in a factory only to loose their pensions when the company moved overseas. I've seen seen old widows lose their homes because of foreclosure and had to move to the local homeless shelters. It's a shame that happens in a country as rich as ours. But it does.

So, today we have desperate human beings crossing US-Mexican border in hopes of a better life. To them, despite the prejudice and the injustice that exists in here, America is a slice of heaven on earth. These are people that have it even worse than our homeless. There is no opportunity at all where they live. They have nowhere to turn to ask for medicine. They have nowhere to to turn ask for food. They have nowhere to go to ask for jobs. They have nothing but the flies infesting their wounds and the dimmest of hopes.

Now what would you do? What would you be willing to do? Look at your children, your wives and your husbands. What would you be willing to for them. Cross a desert? Cross a river? Put your life on the line for them dodging the bullets shot at you by "concerned citizens" waiting for you at the other side of the border? Would you do if your little girl were crying because her belly is hurting from lack of food? What, pray tell, would you do if your boy was dying and all he needed were 10 dollar antibiotics?

Let me tell you what I would do. I'd do whatever was necessary. Period. And whether or not you admit it, so would you. Just like the pilgrims and just like the scores of other immigrants of old. Just like The Irish who came here during the Potato Famine and like the Italians that came to America to escape Benito Mussolini's fascist dictatorship.

I remember something taught to me in Civics class. It went something like this:

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame, With conquering limbs astride from land to land; Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame. Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she with silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!**

What happened America? When did we be become so despicable that we dared toss the welcome mat that welcomed out ancestors? Have we become so full of ourselves that we have forgotten our past? Have we forgotten how to be decent and caring human beings? Have we forgotten about mercy and compassion? Have we become a nation of well-fed savages?

Dear God, I pray not.

What is Congress Really Hiding?

For the last few months or so, Congress has pushed for immigration reforms, an English only nation, and anything that appears to be against Spanish speaking people in the US. Why?

I believe it's because the GOP knows it is seriously falling in the polls. They fear they will lose their Congressional seats.

Think about it.

Republicans had all these years to do something about illegal immigrants. What happened? Nothing.

All of the sudden, illegal immigrants are criminalized and possibly viewed worse than Osama and al-Qaeda. By the way, Osama still remains at large and I still have yet to hear reports of terrorists trying to slip into the US pretending to be immigrants.

Out of the blue, we have a national crisis that requires the deployment of the National Guard.

Congress lately feels the need to erect a barrier reminiscent of the Berlin Wall along the southern border for national protection. Funny, I don't feel more protected. Do you?

Congress, if you really want to protect America, what about the Canadian border? What about the East and West coasts? Huh? What? The silence is glaring.

What America is hearing loud and clearly from the Hill is that they really think we are idiots! They think we're blind to their blatant political posturing. No, we're not. Look at the polls.

Here's an idea. Since the immigrants come here to do "jobs Americans won't do" let's close the borders and deport 11 million illegals. Then let's get all those Americans who are on welfare rolls bleeding the system dry, all those who are on unemployment insurance because of outsourcing to other countries, and make them do the jobs that they refuse to do.

What? We can't do that? Why not? Oh I see. They might vote you out of Congress.

We can't have that now, can we?

From Nigeria… with Love

You’d think it would be obvious to anyone that a love letter from Nigeria could only mean one thing: a scam. Yet, despite the numerous TV reports and newspaper articles exposing these scumbags posing as modern day cyber-Romeos, thousands of the lovelorn fall into their well-orchestrated traps every year.

Posing as sweet and romantic cupids, they insidiously creep into the lives and bank accounts of lonely women and men looking for love. They slowly earn their unsuspecting victims’ confidence and trust until suddenly, they leave them high and dry… and broke.

This may have happened to you. Maybe you know someone who was bamboozled by these Internet con artists? Either way, check out Romance Scam, an online database that collects stories and pictures of the latest scammers out there. If you’re looking for your soul mate or just hitting the dating scene, you owe it to yourself to be well informed.

The next time someone pops in on IM with oooh la la on their mind, ask yourself if his or her profile and picture are too good to be true? More times than not, it is. Heck, they may not even be real.

The wrong decision can leave you bankrupt, both in your bank account and in your heart.

Al Gore on the Rise… Maybe.

Gore had a high unfavorable rating due largely to the smear campaign directed against him in the presidential race in 2000. Presidential campaigns are never amicable affairs. However, in 2000, the race was unique. The media were completely coordinated in thrashing Gore for even the most mundane things.

Before 2000, former Vice President Gore had the reputation of a dedicated, if somewhat dull, public servant. During 2000, he was treated as some sort of freaked out maniac. For example, his critique of the impending Iraq War was brutalized as some sort of bizarre bombast.

He has since been proven 100% right.

Was he ardent in his speeches? Of course he was. He cared. At the time, Congress, the mainstream media and most of America had its collective head in the sand while the country marched into disaster. The substance of his speeches was entirely rational.

In hindsight, most people now agree with Al Gore and wish they never heard or seen the name of G.W. Bush.

Incidentally, have any newspapers or talking heads apologized? No.

Everything he said about the Iraq War was entirely true. Actually, the War has turned out worse than he predicted. Not even the war's harshest critics predicted Abu Ghraib.

Gore’s critics may say the abovementioned is pure baloney. But let me ask this:

Are you honestly telling me that if people are continuously hearing that a candidate is a nut job and a liar, it's not going to affect how some people vote? Please spare me the rhetoric.

I believe Al Gore would make a fine president. We have seen where the Bush Administration has taken the American people. It’s time for rational and sound minds to prevail in the White House.

Only Three States Approve of Bush!

A national survey released just yesterday reveals the only three US states - Iowa, Utah, and Wyoming - give President Bush a positive approval rating!

Chris Bowers, of, has created a county by county US map depicting GW's glaring lack of voter support.

Ladies and gents, stick a fork in 'em. The GOP is done.

Border Security or Political Favor?

Last night, President Bush revealed his plan to secure America's border with Mexico. The plan, however, has more holes that a block of Swiss cheese in a mouse hole. He wants to send 6000 unarmed National Guard troops to serve as intel gatherers for the INS, Customs and Border Patrol.

Unarmed? I am not worried about our troops getting fired upon by illegal immigrants as much as they could get shot by the "friendly fire" of the armed to the teeth vigilante groups already there. What Bush needs to do is get rid of these racist wannabe Keystone Cops vigilante groups instead of ignoring them. Let the professionals who have been properly trained do their jobs and order these filthy gutter rats to goose-step back to the outhouses from which they came.

The rotation schedule Bush proposed required a total of 156,000 troops from an already overextended National Guard. Let's pray that hurricane season is not as bad as scientists say it's going to be this year. Pray tell, where are we going to muster troops if another Katrina hits this year? What about forrest fires? What about any other national natural disaster? Are we prepared to handle those events as well? If last year's Katrina debacle was any indication of our Federal government's readiness, God help us.

This is not border security. This is merely political favor disguised as national interest. What nauseates me is the extent that politicians are willing to go and who they are willing to placate to secure their congressional seats and hefty paychecks!

Bush said his guestworker program is "...a way for those who have broken the law to pay their debt to society and demonstrate the character that makes a good citizen."

I agree. Let's start with the current White House administration.

They Are Watching Us From Space

In this new high tech era, do you really think you have any privacy? Somewhere, probably in some secret image database, there's a picture of you bathing in the nude. Or maybe there's of a picture of you giving the finger to some grandmother who cut you off on the highway? Or... well you get the picture. No pun intended.

The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency is a little known Federally funded department, whose sole purpose is to gather images on any place on earth using satellites in space.

However, since Hurricane Rita and Katrina, the NGA has trained its spy satellites on American soil. According to the director of the NGA, retired Air Force Lt. Gen. James Clapper, he "is proud of that domestic mission". According to this article, the NGA has helped America from locating property in hurricane battered Louisiana to enhancing security in previous Super Bowl games from terrorist attacks by using cutting edge imagery that is taken from high above the atmosphere.

This is wonderful! Truly brilliant and deserving of a standing ovation. We can see anything anywhere on the face of the earth with the detail of one meter. The NGA is truly the bleeding edge of technology.

So... where's Osama bin Laden?

Who Pulls the White House Strings?

Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald is focusing on notes handwritten by Vice President Cheney that namelessly mentioned former CIA spook, Valerie Plame, shortly before she was publicly outed. Plume is also the wife of ardent Bush Administration critic, former Ambassador Joseph Wilson.

In another twist, it has been also revealed that Cheney and his top legal adviser, David S. Addington barnstormed the NSA, demanding a spy program designed to intercept US phone calls and e-mails without warrants in 2001.

I believe we're beginning to see who really wears the pants in the White House.

Arizona 250 Member Posse Nabs Only One

Here are the facts:

250 Maricopa County sheriff's deputies and trained volunteers, armed with night-vision equipment, spotlights and one helicopter, chased 15 to 20 alleged illegal immigrants. Net catch? One.

And we don't know if this suspect is an illegal immigrant?

Yep. I'd be angry too, Sheriff Arpaio. Your boys made you look really, really, really bad.

Oh. By the way, don't expect COPS to come knocking on your office door anytime soon.

New Low: Twenty Nine Percent!

The latest Harris Poll indicates that President Bush has reached an all time approval ratings low. This is on the heels of a 13% loss of Republican support in the past two weeks.

I can now hear the hardcore Republican supporters claiming this is a liberal media conspiracy. This has to be the largest conspiracy ever! It involves about 70% of Americans... not to mention all the GOP politicos that are abandoning ship.

We can only imagine what the percentage points will be after Database-gate sinks in.

Prez Denies Domestic Spy Program

President Bush denied allegations that he authorized the NSA to gather data on billions of domestic calls. He went on to say that "...our intelligence activities strictly target al-Qaida and their known affiliates..."

"NSA is the same spy agency that conducts the controversial domestic eavesdropping program that has been acknowledged by President Bush. The president said last year that he authorized the NSA to listen, without warrants, to international phone calls involving Americans suspected of terrorist links."

Remember when the WH tried to strong arm Google to hand over their database?

Could the NSA be using their homegrown ECHELON spy system?

And why would it be necessary for Qwest to say "no" to the NSA if the NSA wasn't conducting a domestic phone surveillance program?

There's an old country proverb that says that if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and smells like a duck... you can rest assured that it's a duck.

NSA May Be Listening...

More Bush for 2008???

President Bush said that brother Jeb would make a "great president". Although Florida Governor Jeb Bush did not confirm that he would run, many wonder if a Bush presidential hat trick would be too tempting to resist?

My question is, can we handle four more Bush years?

Hispanic Growth Driven by Citizens, Not Immigrants

Joe and Jane America have a misconception about Hispanics in general. They believe that the entire Hispanic population growth is driven by immigrants that arrive daily from Mexico.

That belief is categorically not true. The numbers don't lie. The Census Bureau has released its latest findings that show that "... 60% of the 1.3 million new Hispanics in 2005 are citizens because they were born here..."

It also says that "... in effect, the data show that even if immigration came to a standstill, the Hispanic population boom would not end for at least another generation..."

Imagine that...

US Border Patrol Snitches on Minuteman Project!

According to Sara A. Carter, Staff Writer for the Daily Bulletin, the US Border Patrol has been feeding Mexican government officials intel on the location of several vigilante groups, including the Minuteman Project.

In turn, the Mexican official publishes the information on its Foreign Relations** website.

Yay! Finally the Border Patrol does something decent and humane!

[Standing ovation for the Border Patrol!]

GOP Wants English Only Ballots

In a barnyard attempt to whittle down the Hispanic voting block, scornful House Republicans are seeking to change the 1965 Voting Rights Act. By allowing the provision for language assistance to expire, the bigoted GOP hope to exclude Hispanic voters that do not have a command of the English language, despite the fact that English has yet to be recognized as the official language of the United States.

"The Voting Rights Act was designed to prevent discrimination from interfering with citizens' ability to vote. When the act was extended in 1975, Congress added the section that requires some jurisdictions to provide bilingual ballots and translators."

The more the GOP tries to strike down the Latino population, the more they show their lack of tolerance and justice. The House Reps cite concerns of increased risk of election fraud, however, they fail to explain how illegal immigrants get to vote in the first place? They aren't citizens! Could they be saying that they believe that local and state election officials are too inept to tell the difference?

And what of the American citizens that do not speak English? Do they not get to vote ever again?

The GOP's contempt against Hispanics is absolutely a mockery of the American way of life and an embarrassment to us in the eyes of the global community.

Tying the Hands of the Hispanic Voters

Prez Believes America's Fighting World War III

As incredulous as it looks, President Bush said of the September 11, 2001 revolt of passengers against their hijackers on board Flight 93, "...I believe that it was the first counterattack to World War III."

I believe we're witnessing the first looks of what is really in store for us, folks.

And it t'aint pretty.

The Co$t of War in Iraq

Ever wonder about America's cost in the War in Iraq in American fatalities and in taxpayer dollars? I have and here it is as of this moment:

US Deaths Officially Acknowledged by the Department of Defense: 2414 w/ 12 pending confirmation.

Cost of War in Taxpayer Dollars: $278,915,340,085 and climbing.

If you're one of the blessed ones and have your family intact this morning, kiss and hug your wife, your husband, your children or your significant other and thank God you're able to see and touch them this morning.

I am sure I can find 2414 people that would gladly trade places with you on your worst day.

God bless our troops.

Bush/Republican Congress Approved Record Breaking Funding for Abortion

If this isn't a case of political hypocrisy, I don't know what is?

Why did the Majority Republican Congress overwhelmingly approved and President Bush signed into law the highest funding for Title X (which funds Planned Parenthood) for Fiscal Year 2005?

It makes me wonder if the Christian Right knows that they are supporting a Conservative government that turned around and used their taxpayer monies to bankroll an agency that is clearly pro-abortion?

Now wait. Here is what then Governor Bush said about his pro-life stance. Last year, President Bush said this.

Now this is the action that the Republican Congress and President Bush took.

Dear reader, the point is not whether you are pro-life or pro-choice. It is simply whether or not you can trust a person to do what they've said they were going to do?

I believe action speaks louder than words. I believe that a person's integrity can be deciphered by observing if what they do lines up to what they've said.

And what do we call people that say one thing and do the opposite?

Conservative Talk Radio Host Ashamed for Voting Bush

"I believe George W. Bush is the worst two-term President in the history of the country."

Those were the sincere and heart-felt words of Doug McIntyre, Radio Host of McIntyre in the Morning, 790 KABC out of Los Angeles, who publicly apologized for supporting and voting for President Bush.

He continued, "I believe that George W. Bush has taken us down a terrible road."

It's my hope that the last of the Bush supporters would finally come to their senses as McIntyre has done.

"George W. Bush continues to act the part, but at this point who's[SIC] buying the act?"

Not me.

Conservatives Also Fed Up with GOP

A newly released Associated Press-Ipsos poll proclaims a new low for GW and the GOP. Surprisingly, the numbers were driven down by angry Conservatives voters!

Seems the GOP can't catch an even break these days...

I have a mind to stop writing, sit back with a tub of buttered popcorn and just enjoy the show.

Arizona Posse Twist Smuggling Law to Arrest Illegal Immigrants

Prejudice masked as law enforcement is the order of the day as Arizona Sheriff's deputies and volunteers hit the Phoenix streets in a "mission" to hunt and arrest illegal immigrants. They are charging illegals with a twisted version of a new Arizona smuggling law.

However, what they are forgetting that it is the Federal government's job to search and arrest illegals. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is clearly overstepping his jurisdiction.

Why are the Feds allowing this?

Another question that begs to be asked: is the posse arresting all illegal immigrants or just those that happen to be Latinos?

Here's Sherrif Joe's "trained" posse in action.

The Keystone Cops would be proud.

WH Denies Bush Signing Anthem in Spanish

Of course they are denying it. Wouldn't want the GOP having to eat that nasty crow pie again on GW's account, would they? But the proof is there. Now there has to be video marking this event. It'll show up soon enough.

My hat's off to First Lady Laura Bush. She seems to be in disagreement with the GOP and her husband. She said, "I don't think there's anything wrong with singing it in Spanish," during a CNN interview yesterday.

Latino Boy Beaten By White Men in Utah

Two white males in their 20's brutally beat and broke three facial bones of 15 year old Mexican teen-ager on the way to school in Utah. According to the victim, his assailants yelled racial slurs while beating him. Prosecutors, however, are debating whether to treat this as a hate crime.

This news is a few days old but it needs to be told since main stream national news media has yet to report this savage beating inflicted on a Latino child, who is only known as "Felipe" due to his young age. With the minor exception of the local ABC news affiliate which failed to mention that the boy is Mexican in their headlines. View video here.

Latino Boy Get Beat Down for Being LatinoI want to take this moment to address the Latino Conservatives who continue to think that the Anglo Conservatives view them as equals. They don't.

Take a good look at the image. This could have been your child.

Time to wake up, mi gente.

***Hat tip to Latino Pundit for making us aware of this story.

Ohio to Give GOP the Elections... Again!

Ohio, the state who gave President Bush the White House again in 2004, still can't get the programming right on the Diebold's** touch screen voting machines. Looks to me like this is another setup for a GOP election "gimme".

"Ohio's quickly getting this reputation as most corrupt and maybe most incompetent," said Chris Link, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio, which fielded dozens of complaints from voters.

Nah. Really? You think?

** Diebold Election Systems Inc., based in North Canton, Ohio, is a rabid Bush supporter.

Minuteman Project on Tour to Promote Anti-Hispanic Cause

"According to the Minuteman Web site, the caravan is scheduled to stop in President Bush's vacation haven of Crawford, Texas, as well as Phoenix, Albuquerque, N.M.; Abilene, Texas; Little Rock, Ark.; Memphis, Tenn.; Nashville, Tenn.; Birmingham, Ala.; Atlanta; Greensboro, N.C.; and Richmond, Va., before arriving in Washington."

I just wonder why they won't visit our fair New York City and Northern New Jersey?

I am sure we would give the Minuteman Project the proper welcome.

Moussaoui Loses Bid for Martyrdom

Many don’t understand why Zacarias Moussaoui's jury let him live? But they handed him the worst possible sentence for him, life in prison. Now he get to become a martyr. He is a disgrace and must live with religious failure. No 70 virgins. No heaven. No Allah welcoming him with open arms.

Nada. Zip. Kaput.

Now, he gets to live in an American prison, with American criminals, who despite their tainted past, are still Americans.

Moussaoui is about to become every inmate’s cell honey. He will die a punk buddy and a sweet sugar booger and not a “heroic warrior of Allah”. He will live in a small cell with bad memories to keep him company for the rest for his days.

No, we may not get to see him die immediately. But die he will. Slowly. Painfully. He will be shown the same indifference he showed the 9/11 victims and their families.

On that side of the fence is the “real world”. Moussaoui's world will be filled with violence and unrelenting hate. A world of silent suffering and muffled screams, day in and day out. He will live hundreds of days wondering if his food is tainted with urine. Thousands of lonely hours will pass living with nightmares you and I can’t even begin think about. That is Moussaoui’s life from now on. He will probably ask his god why he allowed this? His prayers will return void and empty… He will come to the end of his beliefs, and he will realize his life was in vain and is utterly ruined. Over time, his psyche will break and shatter many times over.

Trust me. Moussaoui got the perfect sentence for his hideous crime.

The NY Daily News agrees. Justice was served.

Bush Sang National Anthem in Spanish At Latino Festivals

In the recent days, the Latino Edge has been researching President Bush's English only commentaries aimed at Latino immigrants.

According to American Dynasty author, Kevin Phillips, President Bush sang the Star Spangled Banner in Spanish during his 2000 presidential campaign.

"... When visiting cities like Chicago, Milwaukee, or Philadelphia, in pivotal states, he would drop in at Hispanic festivals and parties, sometimes joining in singing "The Star-Spangled Banner" in Spanish, sometimes partying with a "Viva Bush" mariachi band flown in from Texas. ..."

The NY Daily News has reported that ...after Bush was elected, Cuban exile and pop vocalist Jon Secada also sang the "The Star-Spangled Banner" in both English and Spanish at the 2001 opening ceremony of the presidential inaugural...

The following eye-opening video clip shows Bush's former Press Secretary Scott McClellan answering questions about the issue:

Do you wonder if First Lady Laura Bush's Mexican heritage comes into play here? I am glad you asked. The First Lady believes that the US "should be a welcoming country."

So why the Presidential flip-flop? We're listening.

"El Gran Paro" a Historical Success!

Yesterday's multi-state immigrant protest is being touted the most peaceful and successful of all protests in American history. Despite the low coverage of most English speaking news media, El Gran Paro was heard loud and clear across the world.

Mission accomplished!

Immigrant Protest Full Steam Ahead Across the USA

Small and large cities, towns and villages across America are beginning to feel the crunch of financial loss as immigrants and their supporters called off work today in protest. Here are some of the reports from around the US.

Puerto Rico Shuts Down - Commonwealth in Crisis!

Puerto Rico, Commonwealth of the United States, has run out of money, closing schools and other public service agencies today for the first time in the island's history.

Hundreds of thousands Puerto Ricans take to the streets as they are left without education or pay. Gov. Anibal Acevedo Vila and the Puerto Rican Legislature fail to pass a financial stop gap measure to keep the island running.

Puerto Rican natives, who are also US citizens, should seriously consider US statehood. It's been a long time coming.

National Anthem "Whoops!" for Prez

Last week, President Bush declared,"I think people who want to be citizens of this country ought to learn English," in a disgusted reaction to the US National Anthem being sung in Spanish.

I would like to know what all the hubbub is about when the White House website itself is translated in Spanish?

Curiously, the Library of Congress website has the Spanish version of the Star Spangled Banner, written in 1919!

Even more amazing, The National Anthem Project (TNAP) website, chaired by the Honorable First Lady Laura Bush (who has selflessly indeed done so much for education), offers the Star Spangled Banner set to Mexican mariachi music.

How about that?
